SONOMATIC – ISO FEEDBACK/CASE STUDY
Why did you implement the system you have?
Sonomatic previously had ISO.9001 Quality certification to compliment our ISO.17020 Inspection accreditation but previously only aligned to ISO.14001 and ISO.45001. After being awarded some of our large, term contracts, we identified the need to show our commitment more formally to HSE with formal UKAS certification for environmental and OH&S ISO management systems.
How it benefits your business?
14001 and 45001 certifications have helped to mature and further integrate our QHSE Management system and raise awareness and focus in HSE matters. This has led to analysis in carbon footprint and energy consumption trends as well as increasing consultation with staff through HSE committees to ensure our objectives meet the needs of our interested parties.
How did you go about it?
With support from QHSE Aberdeen, we updated our procedures and processes such as our aspects and impacts register and Management Review meetings.
What advice would you give others thinking about starting on this route?
Although the standards like 9001, 14001 and 45001 are easier to integrate now they have an aligned structure, it can save a lot of time and effort if you use resources or consultants that have knowledge and experience of effectively implementing and auditing Integrated management systems that meet the current requirements of UKAS certification bodies.
