NEWS

Welcome to the May edition of our newsletter.

This month we’re focusing on Environmental Management and the upcoming ISO 14001:2026 revision, alongside compliance updates, training, and recent client success.

A Busy Start to Q2

Q2 is already proving to be another busy period for QHSE Aberdeen, with continued demand for our QHSE consultancy services and ISO training courses in Aberdeen and beyond.

We’re supporting organisations across a range of sectors with environmental management, audit preparation, and system implementation, as expectations around sustainability continue to grow.

ISO 14001:2026 – What You Need to Know

ISO 14001:2026 is a practical refresh of the existing standard, designed to make it clearer, more usable, and better aligned with today’s environmental priorities and business risks. While not a complete overhaul, it introduces a stronger and more explicit focus on climate change, biodiversity, resource efficiency, and wider environmental conditions within risk and opportunity planning. The update also increases expectations around supply chain control, requiring more robust oversight of externally provided processes, products, and services, alongside a deeper lifecycle perspective to ensure environmental impacts are considered from design through to end-of-life. A new emphasis on change management formalises how organisations handle operational changes to avoid environmental risks, while expanded guidance and structural tweaks make the standard easier to understand, audit, and integrate with other ISO systems such as ISO 9001 and ISO 45001. Overall, the revision aims to help organisations build resilience, improve environmental performance, and prevent costly surprises.

Don’t Wait to Be Asked

We’re seeing a clear shift across industries, with organisations increasingly being asked about their environmental certification, sustainability credentials, and carbon footprint as part of tendering and supplier approval processes.

Waiting until you’re asked can put you on the back foot.

Being proactive with an ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) not only helps with compliance but can also protect and create business opportunities.

In many cases, organisations risk losing work simply because they cannot demonstrate environmental performance or certification when required.

ISO 14001:2026 Transition Training

To support organisations with the upcoming changes, we are delivering our:

ISO 14001:2026 Transition Course (1 Day) 📅 28th May

This course is designed to:

✔ Explain the key updates in the 2026 revision

✔ Outline what the changes mean in practice

✔ Help you update your Environmental Management System effectively

📩 Early booking is recommended as places are limited.

Rock Flow Dynamics are now ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 Certified and the feedback from our client couldn’t be better…

“The auditor praised the organisation and depth of our IMS which of course is all down to Erin.

From my side, when I was first approached from our director to take this on, it felt incredibly overwhelming, but Erin has guided me through every step.

She is a pleasure to work with, and I look forward to continuing that over the next year. “
