Quality Matters โ Preparing for the Future of ISO 9001
Welcome to the July edition of our newsletter.
This month we’re focusing on Quality Management and ISO 9001, the world’s most widely recognised Quality Management System standard. With an update to ISO 9001 expected in September 2026, now is the perfect opportunity to review your management system and ensure it continues to support business performance, customer satisfaction and continual improvement.
We will also share client success stories, upcoming training courses, team news and the latest developments from QHSE ABERDEEN LIMITED.
A Busy Summer at QHSE Aberdeen
Summer has arrived, but there’s certainly no sign of things slowing down.
Demand for both our consultancy and training services continues to grow and, over recent months, we’ve expanded our team to support our increasing client portfolio.
We’re delighted to welcome our new Head of Operations, Fiona, together with two additional consultants, strengthening our expertise across Quality, Health & Safety, Environmental and Information Security.
As our workload continues to increase, we’re also looking to recruit additional experienced consultants who share our passion for helping organisations continually improve.
Quality Management โ More Than Just Certification
Many organisations initially implement ISO 9001 to satisfy customer requirements or tender specifications.
However, the organisations that gain the greatest value are those that use their Quality Management System as a business improvement tool rather than simply a certificate on the wall.
A well-designed ISO 9001 system helps organisations to:
โ Improve customer satisfaction
โ Reduce waste and inefficiencies
โ Standardise processes
โ Improve communication
โ Make better business decisions
โ Drive continual improvement
Ultimately, quality management should support the businessโnot slow it down.
Why Do So Many Organisations Choose ISO 9001?
ISO 9001 remains the world’s most widely adopted management system standard because it provides a proven framework for improving business performance.
Rather than focusing solely on compliance, ISO 9001 encourages organisations to:
โ Put customers at the centre of decision-making
โ Build efficient and repeatable processes
โ Manage business risks proactively
โ Measure performance against meaningful objectives
โ Encourage continual improvement across all areas of the organisation
โ Create a culture of accountability and quality
For many organisations, ISO 9001 becomes much more than a certification requirement, it becomes a valuable business management tool that supports growth, operational excellence, and customer confidence.
Whether your organisation is looking to improve customer satisfaction, win new contracts, reduce inefficiencies, or strengthen internal processes, ISO 9001 provides a structured framework to help achieve those goals. Many of our clients initially pursue certification because it is requested by customers, but they often find that the operational benefits extend far beyond the certificate itself.
ISO 9001 Revision Expected in September 2026
The committee responsible for ISO 9001 continues to develop the next revision of the standard, with publication currently expected during September 2026.
Although the final requirements have not yet been published, it is anticipated that the revision will place greater emphasis on:
- Organisational resilience
- Managing change
- Digital transformation
- Knowledge management
- Risk and opportunity management
- Stakeholder expectations
As more information becomes available, QHSE Aberdeen will continue to keep clients informed and provide guidance on any transition requirements.
Don’t Wait Until You’re Asked
Increasingly, we’re seeing organisations being asked by customers and procurement teams to demonstrate:
- ISO 9001 Certification
- Supplier Quality Assurance
- Continuous Improvement Programmes
- Performance Metrics
- Internal Auditing
- Management Review Processes
Waiting until a customer asks the question can place unnecessary pressure on your business.
Being proactive today could be the difference between winning a contract and missing an opportunity tomorrow.
Training remains one of the foundations of continual improvement, with July and August busy months for our CQI | The Chartered Quality Institute & IRCA | International Register of Certificated Auditors Approved Training Centre.
Including:
- ISO 9001 Foundation
- CQI & IRCA Certified ISO 9001 Internal Auditor

Congratulations once again to everyone involved.

Our flexible consultancy model allows businesses to benefit from senior QHSE expertise, regular support, auditing and training, giving them confidence that their management systems remain compliant and continue to improve.
Compliance Focus
Recent HSE enforcement notices continue to demonstrate that the majority of prosecutions stem from failures in the basics:
โ Suitable and sufficient risk assessments
โ Safe systems of work
โ Competent employees
โ Effective supervision
โ Leadership commitment
Compliance should never be viewed as a one-off exercise but as part of a culture of continual improvement.
